Perfect Party!

This weekend I made two cakes for a family party and they both turned out wonderfully! The first was Dori Greenspan's Perfect Party Cake and the second was an Apricot Carrot cake from my new Sky High: Irresistible Triple-Layer Cakes (which I'm now in love with). The only trouble I had was making the buttercream frosting for the Party Cake. It looked more like soup than frosting, but after adding some confectioners sugar and mixing and mixing and mixing it finally came together. Success!

Happy Birthday Shelley!

Today is my Aunt Shelley's birthday and I told my Grams that I would make the birthday cake for her party tonight. I have been looking at this Tiramisu Layer Cake for months just waiting for the opportunity to make it for someone. I'm a little nervous about how it will turn out because I used a different frosting and made a few minor changes, so I'm crossing my fingers. Oh well, if it turns out horrible at least it looked pretty right?

My cousin has also asked me to make a cake for his mom's birthday in August. I'm thinking about trying this...or maybe this.
